The Appling Grays Camp #918 of the Sons of Confederate Veterans will hold their annual Confederate Memorial Day Ceremony at the Historic Holmesville Site this year. Holmesville was the county seat of Appling when the War for Southern independence began and the residents of Appling County came there to sign up.
The ceremony will begin on Saturday April 30 at 3:00 pm at the intersection of State Route 15 and Post Road. This year’s speaker will be Pastor John Weaver from Fitzgerald. In addition to the annual Confederate Memorial Day Ceremony the new Confederate monument recently placed in the Historic Park will be dedicated. Refreshments will be served afterward. Commander Bill Bowers invites all interested parties to attend and help observe Confederate Heritage and History Month in Georgia.
