Sheriff Benny Deloach would like to report the following incidents handled by deputies with the Appling County Sheriff’s Office.
On June 7, answered a call to Lennox Road in reference to a suspicious person/shots fired. The complainant stated she saw an unknown subject on her porch and added that when the subject saw her, the person returned to a vehicle and drove off. The complainant shot a pistol in the air to scare the subject. Investigation continues.

June 8, answered a call to Omega Cemetery, which resulted in the arrest of Steven Douglas Haney, age 48, of Baxley. He was arrested and charged with public drunkenness.
June 8, a complainant came to sheriff’s office to report a theft that occurred on Pineview Avenue. The complainant stated missing from his residence are two Husquvarna Chain Saws, one valued at $300.00 and the other valued at $900.00. Investigation continues.
June 8, answered a call to Hatch Parkway in reference to damage to property. A complainant stated an unknown subject spray painted his trees.
June 8, answered a call to Hoppy Trail in reference to a missing person. The complainant stated her nineteen-year-old son had been missing for over twenty-four hours. The sherriff’s office issued a “be on the lookout” (BOLO) for the missing person. The mother called later and advised her son was out of town.
