Blair Alton Snyder, 71, died Saturday, May 4, 2013. Snyder was born July 9, 1941 in Creekside, Pennsylvania to the late Grant Snyder and the late Leatha Neal Snyder. He was a resident in Baxley for the past 25 years.
He was in the U.S. Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis and also in the Coast Guard, after he got out of the service, he was an apprentice with Plumber Local Union 519 in Miami, Florida and became a plumber and pipefitter in several nuclear plants. Snyder also worked on the shuttles at Cape Canaveral. His work took him all over and that was good because he loved to travel. Being away from home he would write his wife and always began the letter “To my lovely bride.” After retirement he was always up early everyday working in the yard. The VA was a big part of his life.
