Calvin “Wimpy” Jackson, III was born March 23, 1959 in Baxley, to Calvin Jackson, Jr. and Lillie Naomi Jackson. He departed this life on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at Georgia Regional Hospital in Savannah. Jackson attended schools in the Appling County School System where he excelled as an artist.
Jackson was predeceased by his father, Calvin Jackson, Jr. and mother, Lillie Naomi Jackson; sisters, Carol D. Jones, Otha Nell Jackson, Malana Solomon, Melva Jean Farrington, Sylvia Jackson and brothers, Wilton F., Scottie Laverne and Timothy Jackson.
He is survived by wife, Shara Jackson of Alma; one sister, Lugenia Jackson Pierce (Eugene) of Waycross; two brothers, Ronald Jackson of Baxley and Kelton Jackson of Jacksonville, FL; one brother-in-law, Arthur Solomon of Middleburg, FL; four loving aunts, Zora Brown of Miami, FL, Versie Ramsey of Atlanta, Ophelia Walker (Eugene) of Baxley and Jerlene Barron of Miami, FL; one uncle, Charles Williams, Jr. (Carrie) of Baxley and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 30 at St. James AME Church in Baxley with the Rev. Antonie Walker, Sr. presiding. Eulogy was given by Bishop Luscious B. Rogers. Interment followed in Miles Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Tremar Harris, Quincy Bennett, Dwight Nails, Cedrick Williams and Hoarse Sellers.
Honorary pallbearers were staff of Appling County Sheriff Office and staff of Georgia Regional Hospital of Savannah.
Musical selections were rendered by Peggy Fletcher and the choir.
Arrangements were under the direction of Brown Funeral Home.
