The Georgia Department of Transportation announced that a new traffic signal is becoming operational at the intersection of U.S. 1/S.R. 4 and S.R. 15 in the City of Baxley. The new signal will be flashing in test mode on Thursday, May 2.
If weather permits, the signal will be set to operate in full capacity on Tuesday, May 7. Message boards and advanced warning signs will be in place to prepare motorists for this new traffic signal.
The operational improvements at the intersection include widening of S.R. 15 and U.S. 1/S.R. 4 approaches and added double right turn lanes on S.R. 15 and double left turn lanes on S.R. 4. Pedestrian facilities at this intersection will not be accessible until intersection construction is completed.
Motorists are reminded to pay special attention to traffic control devices, signs and posted speed limits to ensure safe passage through the new signal location
