Sheriff Benny Deloach would like to report the following activity of the Appling County Sheriff’s Office.
March 29, answered a call to Clifton Crosby Road in reference to a theft. Stolen from the property was a black mini bike valued at $400.00. Investigation continues.
March 29, answered a call to Zoar Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated taken from her property was a 2012, 19 hp Poland lawn mower. Investigation continues.
March 29, answered a call to Red Dot Road in reference to a domestic, which led to the arrest of Janice Dapaine Figueroa, age 52. Figueroa was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.
March 30, a routine traffic stop on Bay Street led to the arrest of Omar Morales, 20, of Baxley. Morales was charged with possession of marijuana.
March 30, answered a call to Calloway Lane in reference to a theft. A complainant stated subject(s) entered her residence and took her TV and DVD’s . Investigation led to the arrest of Steven Craig Callaway, 30, of Baxley, and Kathy Craven, 60, of Baxley. Both were charged with theft by taking.
March 30, answered a call to Sam Miles Road in reference to a burglary. A complainant stated a subject broke into her house and broke her coffee pot, and then texted the complainant stating what he had done.
March 30, answered a call to Quinn Road in reference to a domestic dispute. A mother and a son had a verbal dispute, which led to an altercation. The mother did not want to press charges.
March 30, answered a call to George Craven Road in reference to a domestic. A husband and a wife had an altercation. The husband left the residence before officer arrived.
March 30, a complainant came to Appling County Sheriff’s Office to report a civil issue. The complainant stated he took his boat to a subject to be fixed September 2012, and on this date found that his boat was in pieces. The complainant wants his boat back fixed.
April 1, answered a call to Lynch Road in reference to a burglary. Taken from the residence were several pieces of jewelry and coins. Investigation continues.
April 1, answered a call to Midway Church Road in reference to damage to property. A complainant stated three farm vehicles had burned suspiciously due to electrical fires. Investigation continues.
April 1, answered a call to Zoar Road in reference to a domestic dispute. An investigation led to the arrest of Kendall Kirksey, Sr., age 70, of Baxley. Kirksey was charged with DUI/alcohol, two counts criminal damage to property in 2nd degree, and terroristic threats and acts.
April 2, answered a call to Daisy Lane in reference to a possible drug overdose. The complainant stated her daughter had taken an overdose of her seizure medication. The subject was transported to Appling ER for treatment.
April 2, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report a theft of service. The complainant stated she and her husband loaned a subject money, and in turn he was to work for them until the loan was paid. The subject left town without paying or working out his debt.
April 2, the Appling Co. Deputies went to the residence of 9445 Hatch Parkway to serve a warrant on a subject. A male subject came from the residence with an assault rifle and resisted arrest, which led to the arrest of Brian Joseph Smith, 26, of Baxley. Smith was charged with cruelty to children, aggravated assault, and possession of firearm while trying to commit crimes and obstruction of an officer.
April 2, answered a call to Brandon Street in reference to cruelty to animals. A complainant stated someone had shot her dog.
April 5, answered a call to Tupelo Circle in reference to a forgery. Wal-Mart had notified the complainant that a subject had made several attempts to cash a check on her that looked suspicious. The complainant stated a check had been stolen from her checkbook. Investigation continues.
