Martha L. Crosby, 70, of Blackshear, died suddenly Monday morning (April 1, 2013) at Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross.
She was a native of Baxley but had lived most of her life in Ware and Pierce Counties. She was the daughter of the late D. David McNeal and Mamie Carter McNeal Ahl.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, the Lydia Sunday School Class, and the Woodmen of the World. She had retired from the Jewelry Department of Walmart in 2010 after 14 years of service. She was best known as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
She and her husband, Carl O. Crosby of Blackshear would have celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary April 7, 2013. Other survivors include a daughter, Carla Nipper (husband, Don) of Waycross; a son, Charles Crosby (wife, Mona) of Waycross; three grandsons, Ryan Crosby (wife, Rebecca), Levi Thrift, and Dylan Crosby, all of Waycross; two sisters, Amy Humphries (husband, Johnny) of Danville, and Marilyn Heichelbech (husband, Herb) of Pigeon Forge, TN; a brother Jimmy Ahl (wife, Jamie) of Sulphur, LA, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday (April 3, 2013) at Calvary Baptist Church. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery in Waycross. The family received friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Music Funeral Home.
