Chief of Police James Godfrey reports that on March 26 several arrests were made in connection with several burglaries that officers of the Baxley Police Department have worked in the past several weeks.
The arrests are in connection with the March 4 burglary to the Taquiera Don Juan Restaurant, located on Bay Street, after entry a camera system, modem, cash register with an undetermined amount of currency, a 42-inch T.V., and some drinks were taken; the March 4 criminal trespass to the Natural Pine Straw Business, on Bay Street, in which several subjects entered the fenced in yard area and pushed the video camera up out of the way, but no entry was made; the March 4 burglary to K&L Barbeque, after entry the cash register was taken with an undetermined amount of currency; and the March 21 burglary to the Natural Pine Straw Business, located on Bay Street, after entry the surveillance system and a safe were taken; the Jan. 8 burglary to Sheffields Trophies, after entry the cash register with an undetermined amount of currency was taken; and the Jan. 22 burglary of South Georgia Gold, after entry some items were removed.
Arrested in connection with these burglaries were: Brian Magee, 19, on three counts burglary, and one count criminal trespass; Dustin Scott Courson, 19, one count burglary, Joseph McNamara, Jr., 18, on three counts burglary and one count criminal trespass; Derek K. Perry, 19, on three counts burglary and one count battery, which occurred while he was being booked in, he assaulted another inmate. All have a Baxley address and are currently in custody, in the Appling County Detention Center where they are awaiting further judicial proceedings.
Chief Godfrey says that as the investigation continues there will be more arrests forth coming in the next several days.
