James Orris Lynch, Sr., 87, died Tuesday, March 19, 2013. Lynch was born June 18, 1925 in Appling County to the late Abner Hershel Lynch and the late Clara Bowen Lynch. He was a member of Red Oak Baptist Church. Lynch was owner of J. O. Lynch Steel Company.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Howard (Wylena) Lynch, sister, Hilda (J. H.) Lawrence; and their beloved son, Stanford Lee Lynch.
Survivors include his wife, Rita Cherry Lynch of Baxley; two daughters, Wilda (Chris) Grace of Crestview, FL and Jan Lynch of Reidsville; three sons, James (Martha) Lynch, Jr. of Baxley, Wayne (Sharon) Lynch of Stockbridge and Hershel Lynch of Conyers; one brother, Brady (Peggy) Lynch of Jacksonville, FL; one sister-in-law, Ester Rushing of Baxley; 12 grandchildren: Carol, Rodney, Jeffery, Cassi, Meredith, Jennifer, Wes, Tabitha, Will, Corey, Mark and Courtney; 33 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 21 from Red Oak Baptist Church with the Rev. Ron Ross officiating. Interment followed in church cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Ronald Lynch, Aubrey Lynch, Dale Lynch, Madison Rushing, David Barlow and Mike Carter.
Honorary pallbearers were all in attendance, in person or in spirit.
Musical selections were rendered by Pam Williams and Sandra Nettles.
Arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
