Mrs. Peggy White Chancey, 71, died Friday, March 15, 2013. Peggy was born Nov. 20, 1941 in Appling County to the late Vance Gaston White and the late Orien Carson White. She was a member of Ten Mile Baptist Church. Mrs. Chancey was a past director of Appling County Football Boosters Club and the National Wild Turkey Federation where she worked diligently with her husband, Don, in all aspects with the federation. She was a very charitable and giving person having touched many lives along the way. Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Ladonn Chancey and a brother, J. W. White.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Chelen and Michael Strickland of Eatonton; son and daughter-in-law, Jayson and Marcy Chancey of Alma; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen Kanavage of Augusta, Fannie Mae and Earl McDaniel and Rose and Larry Boatright, all of Baxley; grandchildren, Ryan and Lexie Chancey and Logan and Tanner Strickland and a host of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 17 from Swain Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Mark Carver and Tommy Daniels officiating. Interment followed in White Family Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Tracy Boatright, Chad McDaniel, Van Kanavage, David Campbell, Kane Kanavage and Jake Turner.
Honorary pallbearers were Eleanor Carter, Col. Bruce Elliott, Martha and Jackie Strickland, Dr. Orlando Fernando, Phyllis Williams, Floyd and Claudine Hunter, Dr. James Hudson and the Pavilion nurses of Hall B.
Musical selections were rendered by David Williams and Floyd Hunter.
Arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
