Johnny W. Hampton, 64, died Thursday, March 7, 2013. Johnny was born Oct. 29, 1948 in Appling County. He was a member of Baxley Church of God. Hampton was a supervisor at Rayonier for 36 plus years, a master musician and a #1 Dawg fan. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who knew how to put a smile on your face.
Johnny was preceded in death by his wife, Patty Ruth Hampton, his brother, Jerry Hampton, sisters, Charmayne Hall Smith and Sonya Sandford and his father, Wardell Hampton.
Survivors include two daughters, Gina Hampton and Kristy Hampton Beecher, both of Baxley; three sons, Scotty Hampton of Baxley, Kenny Hampton of Tifton and Chad Hampton of Baxley; his mother, Doris Hampton Hail of Alma; two sisters, Judy Martin of Alma and Linda McCoy of Dublin; four brothers, Ricky Hampton and Donnie Hampton, both of Baxley, Michael Hall and Mickey Hall, both of Alma; fourteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews and special friend, Ellen Young.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 11 from Baxley Church of God with the Revs. Jimmy Boatright and Lamar Lee officiating. Interment followed in Baxley Graveyard.
Active pallbearers were Weston Boyette, Colby Tillman, Kyle Reynolds, Kaleb Reynolds, Cody Tillman and Ian Carter.
Honorary pallbearers were employees of Rayonier.
Arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
