Eugene Stephens, 78, passed away Friday, March 15, 2013 at Appling Healthcare System under the care of Comfort Care Hospice. He was a native and lifelong resident of Appling County, a member and Past-Master of Holmesville Lodge #195 of F and A.M. and former owner and operator of Gene’s Diesel and Machine Shop.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Oletha Stephens.
Surviving are two daughters, Teresa and Danny Hardwick of Baxley and Alisha Hall of Baxley; two grandchildren, Greg Hall and Crystal Mulling; three great grandchildren, Dylan Mulling, Devyn Mulling and Madison Mulling; three sisters, Wynell Yawn of Roanoke, AL, Dorothy Dyal of Baxley and Geneva Hutchinson of Baxley; one brother, Linton Stephens of Hazlehurst; several nieces and nephews and other family also survive.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 18 at 11:00 a.m. from the David E. Miles Chapel of Miles-Nobles Funeral Home with the Reverend Allen Carter officiating.
Interment followed in Miles Chapel Church Cemetery with Masonic Rites.
Visitation was held Sunday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Active Pallbearers were Eddie Crowe, Lynn Deen, Shawn Johnson, James Stephens, Tommy Stephens, Bill Crapps, Scott Mulling and Allen Stephens.
Honorary Pallbearers were members of Holmesville Lodge #195 of F and A.M.
