Polly Chandler Thompson, 89, passed away Thursday, February 14, 2013 at her residence. Mrs. Thompson had lived in Baxley for the past six years; she was a native of Opelika, Alabama born February 27, 1923. She was the youngest of her ten brothers and sisters and a Baptist by faith. She was a homemaker for 55 years, with a husband and five children to care for. Mrs. Thompson was a loving, caring person all her living life and even up to the end.
She was preceded in death by her husband Glennie Thompson and two sons, Roy Thompson and Jerry Wayne Thompson.
Survivors include three daughters, Geraldine (Buddy) Sealing of Baxley, Margaret (Rick) Stidham of Doraville, and Linda (Jimmy) Smith of Albany; and nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, February 16 at 3:00 p.m. at the David E. Miles Chapel with the Reverend Doug Weisel officiating.
Visitation was held on Saturday from 1:00-3:00 p.m. prior to the funeral services.
Interment took place Sunday, February 17, 2013 at Rosemere Cemetery in Opelika, Alabama.
