Mrs. Mary Lee King Solomon was born on Nov. 21, 1942 in Surrency, to the late Willie and Beatrice Boykin King. God called Mary, a beautiful angel, into eternal rest on February 14, 2013. She was a faithful and devoted member of St. John Church of God in Christ in Baxley under the leadership of Elder W. H. Solomon.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Solomon, Sr., daughter, Mary Solomon Roberts and seven sisters and two brothers.
Survivors include six daughters, Patricia Smith, Lutwinda (Patrick) Moore, Sr., Nina (Joseph) Coglin, Victoria Solomon, Stephanie (Dr. Joseph) Handsome and Tamika Solomon; two sons, Eddie (Darlene) Solomon, Jr. and Randy (Patricia) Solomon; one sister, Geraldine Jones; two brothers, Cordell King and Isaiah Jones; two sisters-in-law, Eddie Jean King and Floreatha King; twenty-nine grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren; special friends: Evelyn Wright, Eloise Hall, Joyce Smith and Cordelia Foster; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and loved ones.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23 from Thankful New Jersey Missionary Baptist Church with Apostle Alfred Solomon presiding. Eulogy was given by Elder W. H. Solomon. Interment followed in Old Field Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Nate Brooks, William Solomon, Untron Solomon, Van Austin, Ulrik Solomon and Demetrick Smith.
Honorary pallbearers were brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, classmates, friends, nieces and nephews and Appling Healthcare System.
Musical selections were rendered by Karla James, Leron Solomon, Mark Vann and the choir.
Arrangements were under the direction of Baxley Funeral Home.
