You know Washington reminds me lately of kindergarten students on the playground taunting each other with, “I know you are, but what am I.”
For the first time since 2009 the Gross Domestic Product of our country shrunk in the 4th quarter of 2012 (October – December). Granted it is was only 0.1 percent, but that is a drastic drop from the 3rd quarter in 2012 when the GDP grew at a rate of 3.1 percent.
So how does Washington react to the news? President Obama’s press secretary immediately comes out on national television and starts pointing fingers at House Republicans.
Then the top Democrat in the House, Nancy Pelosi, releases a statement, “Today’s disappointing GDP report is a direct result of the economic uncertainty created by House Republicans’ strategy of obstruction and manufactured crises.”
I personally believe that Americans have grown tired of the blame game.
Instead of taking the stance of who’s to blame for our country’s issues, why not come out and tell the American people that just maybe, “We have a plan”?
I guess that would require leadership, which seems to be lacking on all fronts in Washington these days by both Democrats and Republicans. Maybe one day soon we will all witness some real leadership come out of Washington, D.C. instead of acting like school-yard children pointing fingers and playing the blame game.
Designed by geniuses, run by idiots
Unfortunately there is much truth in the following statements:
You know you live in a country designed by geniuses, but run by idiots if...
- your government believes that the best way to eradicate trillions of dollars of debt is to spend trillions more of your tax money.
- you can get arrested for expired tags on your car, but not for being in the country illegally.
- you have to have your parents’ signature to go on a school field trip, but not to get an abortion.
- hard work and success are rewarded with higher taxes and government intrusion, while some slothful, lazy behavior is rewarded with EBT cards, WIC checks, Medicaid, subsidized housing, and free cell phones.
- politicians think that stripping away the amendments to the constitution is really protecting the rights of the people.
- the rights of the Government come before the rights of the individual.
- being stripped of the ability to defend yourself makes you “safe”.
- you pay your mortgage faithfully, denying yourself the newest big screen TV while your neighbor defaults on his mortgage (while buying iPhones, TV’s and new cars) and the government forgives his debt and reduces his mortgage (with your tax dollars).
- (and finally) you can write a post like this just by reading the national headlines.
