James P. Crapps, 81, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Appling Healthcare System under the care of Serenity Hospice. He was a native and lifelong resident of Appling County and a retired mechanic of Hazlehurst Mills. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eula Mae Crapps; parents, Jessie and Wealthy Crapps; one son, Jamie Jerry Crapps and one son in-law, Kenneth Spell.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Ann Williams and husband Quitman and Janet Spell; two sons, Michael Crapps and Donnie Crapps and wife Pam; one brother, Harley Crapps; eight grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other family also survive.
Visitation was held Friday, February 1 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services were held Saturday, February 2 at 2:00 p.m. at the David E. Miles Chapel with the Reverend Carlton Ryals and the Reverend Jason Wynn officiating. Interment followed at Surrency City Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Jerome Crapps, Billie Joe Crapps, Dewayne Crapps, Jody Crapps, Charlie Crapps and Michael Stallings.
Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Errol Graham, Staff at Serenity Hospice and all friends in attendance.
