At the request of CSX Transportation, the Georgia DOT announces S.R. 21 will be closed at the railroad crossing near the intersection with U.S. 341/S.R. 27 in Surrency. This road closure is scheduled between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Thursday, January 17, weather permitting. Motorists will be able to access businesses, schools, and residents in the area. Motorists are urged to drive carefully and stay alert as they travel near this work zone.
The detour route will be signed as follows:
Eastbound - Traffic traveling northbound will detour 17.8 miles north on S.R. 15 to S.R. 27. Traffic will travel 9.65 miles east to the intersection of S.R. 121 where detour ends.
Westbound- Traffic traveling southbound on S.R. 121 will detour at the intersection of S.R. 27. Traffic will travel 9.65 miles west on S.R. 27 to the intersection of S.R. 15, then 17.8 miles south to S.R. 121 where detour ends.
Note: S.R. 121 will remain open to local traffic up to the work zone.
