George “Lewis” Snowden, 55, passed away Wednesday, January 2. Lewis was a resident of Appling County most of his life. After graduating from Appling County High School, Lewis served in the United States Marine Corp. He was an avid hunter and fisherman; enjoyed his lawn service and taking care of his customers. Lewis was preceded in death by his father, Charlton Snowden and a sister, Emma Gail Thompson.
Lewis leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Ruby Gore; four sisters, Lucy Rucker and husband Al, Belinda Allen and husband Joe, Patty Kicklighter and husband Roger and Debra Gore; five brothers, Theron Gore and wife Diane, Alvis Gore and wife Jan, Mack Snowden, Dwight Gore and wife Joann and David Gore and wife Merlene; five nieces; six nephews; great nieces and nephews and other family also survive.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 5, at 1:00 p.m. at Miles-Nobles Funeral Home in the David E. Miles Chapel with the Reverend Creig Smith officiating and music provided by Robbie Tomberlin and David Williams.
Visitation was held on Saturday, January 5, from 11:00-1:00 prior to the funeral services at the funeral home.
Interment followed at Omega Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Chris O’Quinn, Darrell Holcomb, Mike Carter, Jeff Baxley, Dell Ray and Larry Knight.
Honorary pallbearers were Kelly and Deneise Bird and all others in attendance.
Miles-Nobles Funeral Home, David E. Miles Chapel were in charge of these arrangements.
