The Appling County Pirates (6-6 overall, 3-3 Region 1-AAA) had three games over the holiday break starting by hosting the Bacon County Raiders on December 28 with the Pirates able to get the victory by a game winning shot as time expired by Anthony Rayner. Leading scorers for the Pirates were Ronald Handsome 22 points, Anthony Rayner 12 points, Jordan Vann nine points, Heisman Johnson six points and Devontae Wilkerson four points.
The Pirates then traveled to face Beach High on January 4 with the Pirates falling just short, losing 55-60. Leading scorers were Ronald Handsome 26 points, Kevin Johnson seven points, Anthony Rayner seven points, Heisman Johnson five points, Vernon Dasher five points and Jordan Vann four points.
The Pirates final game over the break was at home against Islands High with the Pirates winning handily 87-35. Leading scorers were Ronald Handsome 30 points, C.J. Alexander 16 points, Kevin Johnson 12 points, Heisman Johnson 10 points and Todias Hagins eight points.
The Pirates will host Tattnall County on January 8, travel to Johnson of Savannah on January 11 and host Southeast Bulloch on January 12.
All the games are scheduled to start after the conclusion of the Lady Pirates contests that begin at 6:00 p.m.
