Sheriff Benny Deloach would like to report the following activity of the Appling County Sheriff’s Office.
Dec. 9, answered a call to Odell Bullard Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated an unknown person stole her syrup boiler from her residence. Investigation continues.
Dec. 9, answered a call to Kelly Davis Road in reference to damage to property. The complainant stated unknown person lost control of a vehicle and tore down a fifty-foot section of his fence and left the scene.
Dec. 10, answered a call to Hatch Parkway in reference to a theft. A complainant stated unknown person(s) had entered his residence and took an X-Box and all the games, valued at approximately $400.00. Investigation continues.
Dec. 10, answered a call to Metts Road in reference to unruly juvenile. The grandmother of a juvenile stated she and her grandson had a verbal dispute and left the residence. A lookout was conducted for the juvenile and advised to contact the Juvenile Justice Officer.
Dec. 11, answered a call to Azalea Road in reference to financial fraud. A complainant stated his housekeeper had stolen his debit card and made charges against it at a local store. Investigation led to the arrest of Jessica Lynne Andreu, 23, of Baxley. Andreu was charged with two counts of financial transaction card fraud.
Dec. 11, answered a call to Little Pond Road in reference to damage to property. A complainant stated unknown person had turned on a pivot that hit a cotton module that was sitting in a field causing approximately $15,000.00 in damages to pivot system.
Dec. 12, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report a theft. The complainant stated taken from his property was a deer camera valued at $100.00.
Dec. 12, answered a call to Appling County Board of Education in reference to threats. A complainant stated a parent boarded the school bus and threatened the bus driver. Chevelle Simpson, 36, was arrested and charged with terroristic threats and acts.
Dec. 12, answered a call to Hatch Parkway South in reference to a domestic that resulted in the arrest of Isaias Perez, 40, of Baxley. Perez was charged with disorderly conduct.
Dec. 13, answered a call to Highway 121 South of Surrency in reference to a theft. A carpenter hired by a local church to replace windows of the parsonage stated unknown person(s) had stolen three windows valued at $600.00. Investigation continues.
Dec. 13, a routine traffic stop on Zoar Road led to the arrest of Jessica Marie Sellers, 26, of Hazlehurst. Sellers was charged with DUI/Drugs, expired tag/decal, speeding, failure to stop at stop sign, and fleeing or attempting to elude police officer. Other outstanding warrants were also served on Sellers.
Dec. 13, answered a call to D M Tillman Road of Surrency in reference to an unresponsive subject. The husband of the victim stated he found his wife unresponsive laying on the floor and called 911. The Appling EMS responded and found Mary Miller Gibbs, 66, appeared to have died of an apparent heart attack. The coroner was notified.
Dec. 13, answered a call to Ten Mile Road in reference to a burglary. Investigation to burglary revealed a variety items including guns, and jewelry had been taken. Investigation continues.
Dec. 15, the Appling County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a neighbor of Rickie Smith, to do a welfare check due to the fact that no one had seen or heard from him in several days. Upon officer’s entry into the residence
Rickie Darnell Smith, 59, was found deceased. The coroner was notified and at this time no foul play is suspected.
