Dear Editor,
I am writing in an attempt to raise awareness for the needs of low-income families in our community during the holiday season. While many of us are blessed in abundance during this time of the year, there are many people in Appling County who are not so fortunate. I would like to challenge the members of our community to become involved with a charity at some point over the next month. It is my belief that charitable organizations should receive greater community support during the holiday season.

We were very touched by this letter. My mother, myself, and five children moved here on Dec. 2, 2012 from out of state to stay with my cousin until we could get on our feet. Unfortunately, my cousin decided to throw us out on the street on Dec. 4, 2012, with no where to go. This is the 1st time we have even been to this area. Yes,explaining to my children that Santa Claus is not visiting us this year is going to be very hard, but most important is stressing daily how to get a roof over our heads. Fortunately, we have been blessed with two gentlemen from the community that have made it possible for us to have shelter until Friday, Dec. 7,2012 morning, but we do not know what to do after Friday morning. If anyone can possibly help us please contact me @ crystalpryr@yahoo.com. God Bless.....

I am glad that somebody has realized this. As I am in the low income level it is hard.
