Addie H. Dubberly, 88, of Valdosta, wife of Cecil E. Dubberly, passed away Saturday, November 17, 2012 after several years of illness. A native of Appling County, Mrs. Dubberly was born June 16, 1924, a daughter of the late Richard A. and Fleety Dukes Herrington. For several years she was employed at Gordon Street School as a teachers aide and assistant librarian and enjoyed her time there very much. She was also a dedicated Pink Lady at South Georgia Medical Center for many years, and also a member of Woodmen of the World.
Mrs. Dubberly was a faithful member of Northside Baptist Church, Valdosta, and was in the Adult One Ladies Sunday-School Class and the Women’s Missionary Union.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-three years, Cecil E. Dubberly, Sr. of Valdosta; one son and daughter-in-law, Cecil and Cindy Dubberly, Jr. of Valdosta; one daughter, Cheryl Dubberly of Bamberg, Germany; two grandsons, Daniel Dubberly and Richard Dubberly, both of Albany; one brother and sister-in-law, Arthur and Laura Lee Herrington of Anniston, Alabama; and several nieces, nephews, and special friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, J.R. Herrington; and two sisters, Fannie Herndon and Betty Stephenson.
The Funeral Service for Mrs. Dubberly was held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 21, in the Chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Willis officiating. Interment followed at Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family received friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
