Sheriff Benny Deloach advises that on November 13, at 1:17 a.m., 911 received a call about an attempted burglary at 126 Arbor Drive, Baxley. Investigation revealed that two suspects attempted to break into the residence.
The homeowner/victim shot at two subjects and both were believed to be wounded. Evidence at the scene indicated that the suspects were a juvenile from Baxley and Dominic Simpson, from Waycross. Both suspects were treated at Shands Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida.
To further complicate the investigation the suspects reported to the Ware County Sheriff’s Office that they had been shot in a drive-by shooting on Albany Avenue in Waycross. No evidence has been found to sustain this report.
While investigating the attempted burglary, a person also came to Appling HealthCare System from Alma with a gunshot wound. It is believed that this shooting did occur in Alma.
