Missionary Patricia Ann Mobley was born Dec. 29, 1957, to Josie B. Wilson and the late Sherman Usher in Lyons. On Oct. 29, 2012, she gave up this earthly abode to live with Jesus in His Eternal Kingdom.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman M. Mobley, Jr., a daughter, LaRoysha Yvette Mobley and three sisters, Kate Sanders Mann, Linda Usher and Ruby Usher.
Missionary Mobley attended the public schools of Appling County and graduated with the Class of 1975. She was employed as a seamstress for many years before going back to school to obtain a Bachelor in Business Administration Management and a MBA in Human Resource Management. At the time of her death, she had been employed as a case manager at Appling County Department of Family and Children Services for five years.
Missionary Mobley felt the call of God on her life on Jan. 23, 1983 and answered the call on Jan. 27, 1983 along with her husband and children and became an active member of St. Paul Church of God in Christ in Surrency, under the leadership of Supt. James Frank Carter. Over the years, she fulfilled many roles in the church. She was an active member of the Missionary Board and a licensed Evangelist. Patricia served many years as the adult Sunday school and Bible Band teacher. She also served as the Secretary of the church throughout her entire time at St. Paul.
Patricia A. Mobley is survived by her son, Dr. Antonio A. (Tanisha) Williams; daughter, LaRaysha Y. (Andy) Mobley, mother, Josie B. Wilson; goddaughter, Jamesa; brothers, Tony Williams of Baxley, James (Aretha) Usher of Reidsville and Sherman (Gena) Usher, Jr. of Lyons; sisters, Betty Usher of Soperton, Gloria Wigham of Swainsboro, Loretta Nelson of Vidalia and Patricia McRae of Dublin; one aunt, Rosetta Usher of Lyons; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ageless and Pauline Mobley, William James Mobley, Eddie and Sarah Mobley, Dorothy and Freddie Ogden and Rodney Mobley and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3 at St. Paul Church of God in Christ, Surrency, with pastor, Supt. James F. Carter as eulogist and with Simikia Wright presiding. Interment followed in Rachel Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
Musical selections were rendered by Bryan Holmes, Tammy Richburg and a combined choir.
