Daniel Lee Blanton, 93, of Hilliard, passed away October 23. He was a native of Surrency, but lived most of his life in Hilliard, Fla., retiring as a truck driver. His passion for driving and his fur baby BB kept him active throughout the years until the last few months of his life due to his illness.
Blanton is predeceased by his sons, Charles T. Blanton and Robert W. Blanton.
Surviving family members include his wife of 70 years, Johnnie Blanton; their daughter, Vickie (James) Rhoden of Hilliard; seven sons, Harry Blanton of Hilliard, John (Mary) Blanton, Richard (Sue) Blanton of Jacksonville, Steve (Janet) Blanton, Roger (Diane) Blanton of Yulee, Fla., Joe (Tina) Blanton of Callahan, Fla. and Jeff (Sharon) Blanton of Hilliard; 22 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
Visitation was held Wednesday, October 24, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services were held Thursday, October 25, at 10:00 a.m. from the David E. Miles Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Preston Coltrane and the Reverend Virgil Carter officiating.
Interment followed at Memorial Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.
