Shelvia Jean Fulton Johnson, 75, passed away Wednesday, October 24, at Candler Hospital in Savannah. She was a native and lifelong resident of Appling County and a member of Baxley Freewill Baptist Church. She worked for Miller Western Wear and Town and Country Beauty Shop. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Runt” Johnson and daughter, Debbie Johnson Motte.
Survivors include her six sons, John Johnson and wife Glenda of Baxley, Charles Johnson of Baxley, Dr. Keith Johnson and wife Patsy of Baxley, Kelvin Johnson of Baxley, James Johnson and wife Jenny of Jesup and Stanley Johnson and wife Tina of Baxley; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation was held Friday, October 26, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 27, at 10:30 a.m. at Baxley Freewill Baptist Church. Interment followed at Appling Memorial Gardens.
Active pallbearers were Buddy Aspinwall, James Twiggs, Dalton Lacy, Jack Johnson, Wendell Johnson Jimmy Allen, Brooks Johnson, AJ Johnson, John Hunter and Clay Martin.
Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Graham and staff and the Adult Sunday School Class at Baxley Freewill Baptist Church.
