Winston D. Johnson, 69, passed away October 16, at Appling Healthcare System. He was a native and lifelong resident of Appling County. He served in the Georgia National Guard for 16 years and was a Baptist by faith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Amelia K. Johnson.
Survivors include two sons, Shawn Johnson and wife Karen of Douglas and Stephen Johnson of Baxley; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Smith of Alma and Edith Bass of Palatka, FL; two brothers, Wilbur “Jim” Johnson of Jacksonville, FL and Carroll Johnson of Blythe Island; nieces, nephews and other family also survive.
Visitation was held Thursday, October 18, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services were held Friday, October 19, at 2:00 p.m. at the David E. Miles Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Bryant Bishop and the Reverend Keith Alderman officiating.
Interment followed at Rose Hill Cemetery in Alma.
