Sheriff Benny Deloach would like to report the following activity of the Appling County Sheriff’s Office.
Oct. 5, answered a call to Henry Thomas Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated that an unknown person had taken her trash container.

Oct. 5, answered a call to Highway 15 South in reference to a theft. The complainant stored a mobile home on a mobile home lot and was notified that two window air-conditioning units had been stolen. Investigation continues.
Oct. 6, answered a call to Nails Ferry Road in reference to damage to property. A complainant stated his neighbor’s dogs got on top of his vehicle trying to get a cat doing damage to his vehicle. The complainant shot one of the dogs.
Oct. 7, answered a call to Cook Street in reference to illegal burning. A complainant stated neighbor was burning items that gave off toxic fumes. The officer talked with the neighbor and advised what could and could not be burned.
Oct. 7, a complainant came to the Appling County Sheriff’s Office to report identity fraud. The complainant stated he had been notified by several companies that new accounts had been opened in his name. The complainant stated he had not opened the accounts. Investigation continues.
Oct. 7, answered a call to Hutcheson Road in reference to a domestic dispute. A complainant and a subject had an altercation, which led to the arrest of Willie Gene Bryant, 34, of Baxley. Bryant was charged with disorderly conduct.
Oct. 7, answered a call to Highway 121 of Surrency in reference to a subject lying on the side of the roadway. The officer responded which led to the arrest of Gregorio Quijada Fernandez, 41, of Baxley. Fernandez was charged with pedestrian under the influence.
Oct. 7, answered a call to Kennedy Road in reference to a dispute. A mother and a son had a dispute/altercation. The son left the residence until resolved.
Oct. 8, answered a call to Highway 144 in reference to a car fire. A complainant stated the car caught on fire in the engine area then the grass caught on fire. The responding officer used fire extinguisher to control fire until the Baxley Fire Department arrived.
Oct. 8, answered a call to Highway 144 of Surrency in reference to a theft. The complainant stated he parked his bicycle under the bridge and went fishing. After returning the bicycle was gone. The bicycle was found to have been taken by State Highway personnel cutting grass and was returned to the owner.
Oct. 8, a complainant came to the Appling County Sheriff’s Office to report a theft. The complainant stated she was missing several cameras valued at $340.00. Investigation led to the arrest of Austin Wayne Spell, 21, of Baxley. Spell was charged with theft by taking.
Oct. 8, answered a call to Griffin Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated three of his goats valued at $300.00 were stolen from his property.
Oct. 8, answered a call to Zoar Road in reference to a shot dog. The complainant stated he believes his neighbor shot his dog.
Oct. 8, answered a call to Red Dot Road in reference to a domestic dispute. A girlfriend and a boyfriend had an altercation. The boyfriend agreed to leave the residence.
Oct. 8, answered a call to Fire Tower Road in reference to a four-wheeler accident. The victim was transported to Appling ER by ambulance before officer arrived. A witness stated the four-wheeler hit a pole and flipped the four-wheeler.
Oct. 9, answered a call to Highway 144 in reference to a domestic dispute. The complainant stated her ex-boyfriend had violated his court order by calling her, as he was not to have any contact with her.
Oct. 9, answered a call to Fred Carter Road in reference to fighting. Juveniles were found to have been fighting. One of the juveniles was issued a citation for affray. All juveniles were released to their parents and the juvenile justice officer was notified.
Oct. 10, answered a call to Bobby Vann Road in reference to illegal dumping. A complainant stated someone had dumped tractor-trailer rig tires on his property. Investigation continues.
Oct. 10, answered a call to Griffin Road in reference to loose livestock. A complainant stated his neighbor’s goats were coming on his property and destroying his flowers. The officer talked with neighbors and advised them to keep the goats pinned up or a citation would be issued.
Oct. 10, answered a call to Lawson Drive in reference to harassing phone/text messages. A complainant stated his ex-wife continues to call and send text messages when the judge had already issued a no contact order.
Oct. 10, answered a call to Asbury Church Road in reference to harassing phone calls. A complainant stated unknown subject continues to call and text threatening messages.
Oct. 11, answered a call to Johns Lane in reference to threats. A complainant stated a subject came to their residence and threatened to beat him and his wife.
Oct. 11, answered a call to Veal Camp Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated taken from a shelter was a silver diamond plated toolbox with various tools valued at $1,000.00. Investigation continues.
