District Attorney Jackie Johnson announces that on October 11, an Appling County Jury found 32 year old James Dejuan Reddish of Baxley guilty of Aggravated Assault. The case stemmed from an April 24, 2011 incident in which Reddish attacked a 46 year old man, stabbing him in the neck with a pair of scissors. The incident left the victim temporarily paralyzed and permanently disabled.
Chief Superior Court Judge E.M. Wilkes presided over the case and sentenced Reddish to twenty years in prison. Assistant District Attorney Jan Kennedy prosecuted the case for the State. The case was investigated by Detective John Jones and the Baxley Police Department. The defendant was represented in court by attorney John Thigpen, Sr.
The jury was chosen on Tuesday, October 9th and heard evidence on Thursday before delivering a verdict Thursday afternoon. The District Attorney’s Office would like to thank the jurors for giving of their time and service on this case.
