Sheriff Benny Deloach would like to report the following activity of the Appling County Sheriff’s Office.
Sept. 27, The Appling County Sheriff’s Office received information that a subject was obtaining drug prescriptions from six different doctors and getting prescriptions filled. Investigation led to the arrest of Joey Bill Perry, 48, of Baxley. Perry is charged with three counts fraudulently obtaining controlled substances.
Sept. 27, answered a call to Poor Robin Road in reference to a juvenile dispute. Two juveniles had an altercation on school bus.
Sept. 27, answered a call to West Ivy Street in reference to a possible fraud. A complainant stated victim gave a subject a large check for having repairs and roofing done to her residence. The check was cashed before any repairs were done.
Both parties came to an agreement with a contract written as to the repairs that are to be completed.
Sept. 28, answered a call to Ezra Lane in reference to a dispute. Two individuals had a dispute. Both parties were advised that if they did not get along the landlord would evict both.
Sept. 28, answered a call to Poplar Lane in reference to a theft. The complainant stated he moved from a residence and two of his workman’s compensation checks had not shown up. Investigation continues.
Sept. 28, answered a call to James Kent Road in reference to a burglary. The complainant stated unknown person(s) had gone into his residence and stolen a Sony Play Station and several games valued at $510.00. Investigation continues.
Sept. 29, answered a call to Ben Carter Road in reference to littering. A complainant stated someone is illegally dumping trash on his property. Name was found in trash, and an attempt was made to locate the subject. The subject has moved from the area.
Sept. 29, answered a call to Lilly Moody Road in reference to damage to property. The complainant stated the father of her child came to her residence and did damage to her sewer line and busted holes in the air conditioner unit.
Sept. 29, answered a call to David Carter Road in reference to a domestic dispute. A boyfriend stated his girlfriend had attempted to get inside the residence to get her personal belongings. Upon officer arrival the girlfriend was allowed to get belongings and left the residence without further incident.
Sept. 29, answered a call to Cray Road in reference to a subject going to burn the house down. Upon officers arrival a strong odor of gas was found in the residence. Further investigation led to the arrest of Marvin Ryals, 57, of Baxley. Ryals was charged with terroristic threats and acts and cruelty to children.
Sept. 30, answered a call to West River Road in reference to an abandoned vehicle. The vehicle was found in the roadway and was towed by a wrecker service.
Sept. 30, answered a call to Gardner Road in reference to a disorderly subject. The subject was found to be acting erratically, threatening to stab himself and was having seizure like activity. The subject was transported to ER to be evaluated for mental and physical status.
Sept. 30, answered a call to Oscar Tippins Road in reference to a dispute. The complainant stated her husband and her mother-in-law came to get his belongings from the residence and was causing problems. The officer talked with the subjects and they left.
Sept. 30, answered a call to Ten Mile Road in reference to threats. A complainant stated unknown subject called his cell phone and threatened him if a debt was not paid.
Oct. 2, answered a call to Midway Church Road in reference to a burglary. A complainant stated someone had gone into her residence and taken a flat screen TV, and several pieces of jewelry valued at approximately $5,000.00. Investigation continues.
Oct. 3, answered a call to Hatch Parkway North in reference to a theft. A complainant stated two aluminum Realm rims were taken from her shop. Value of rims is $2,000.00.
Oct. 4, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report a theft. The complainant stated scrap metal valued at $1,000.00 was taken from her rental property. Investigation continues.
Oct. 4, answered a call to Eula Courson Road in reference to a land dispute. The complainants stated there is a dispute over the land that a mailbox is located on.
Oct. 4, answered a call to Ben Carter Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated someone had gone inside his residence and took a safe box with important documents and two gold necklaces.
Oct. 4, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report a theft. The complainant stated while her vehicle was parked at a local church, her purse containing driver’s license, social security card and two credit cards was stolen from her vehicle.
