The Appling County Pirates (4-1-1, 2-1 Region 1-AAA) traveled to Pierce County (5-1, 3-0) on Friday, October 5, and were defeated 34-36.
The Pirates will host Brantley County (1-4, 0-2) for Homecoming on Friday, October 12 at Jimmy Swain Stadium with the game scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.

Pirates attacked by Bears, now 4-1-1
Brantley County lost to Tattnall County (3-3, 2-1) 42-6 last week.
The Pirates defeated the Herons 26-13 last season and have not lost to the Herons since a 14-34 loss in 2006.
Scoring recap
The first score of the game came on a 20-yard touchdown pass by the Bears. The extra point attempt was blocked to make the score 0-6 with 9:16 remaining in the first quarter.
The Pirates answered on their first offensive play of the game on an 81-yard touchdown run by Jordan Vann to make the score, with the extra point added by Israel Jaramillo, 7-6 with 9:01 left in the first quarter.
The Bears next score came when they tackled a Pirate player in the end-zone for a safety to make the score 7-8 with 7:19 remaining in the first quarter.
The Bears scored on their ensuing drive on an 11-yard touchdown pass to make the score, with the extra point being blocked, 7-14 with 5:12 remaining in first quarter.
Vann returned the ensuing kickoff 88-yards for a touchdown to tie the score, with the extra point, 14-14 with 4:55 left in the first quarter.
The Pirates took the lead on their next score, a 58-yard touchdown run by Justin Moore to make the score 21-14 as time expired in the first quarter.
The Bear’s defense recovered a Pirate fumble in the end-zone for a touchdown to make the score 21-20 with 7:14 remaining in the second quarter.
The next score came on a nine-yard touchdown pass by the Bears to make the score, with the two-point conversion, 21-28 with 18 seconds remaining in the second quarter.
The Bear’s added the next score on a one-yard touchdown run and added the two-point conversion to make the score 21-36 with 3:01 left in the third quarter.
Pirate Dennis Williams intercepted a Bear pass and returned the ball 81-yards for a touchdown to make the score, with the extra point blocked, 27-36 with 11:38 remaining in the fourth quarter.
The final score of the game came on a three-yard touchdown pass from Jason Dhaliwal to Trey Newkirk. The extra point was made to make the final score 34-36.
