Congressman Jack Kingston and national Republicans campaigned last year on cutting federal spending and lowering the debt, which they said was the best way to improve the economy. The voters overwhelmingly agreed with Congressman Kingston and the national Republican platform to cut spending and lower taxes.
Repeal of Health Care Act could cost $1 trillion
But now we learn that the new Republican leadership in the House has made its first order of business the repeal of the Affordable Care Act, passed last year after 20 years of debate.
Repealing the Affordable Care Act would have two consequences:
1. It would put insurance companies back in control of your health care decisions, including allowing insurance companies to return to the practice of denying coverage to those with pre-existing conditions and kicking out long-standing customers when they get sick; and
2. It would increase the federal deficit by one trillion dollars over the next 20 years.
Repealing the Affordable Care Act would pass a trillion dollars in debt to our children and grandchildren, benefiting no one other than insurance companies.
