Sheriff Benny Deloach would like to report the following activity of the Appling County Sheriff’s Office.
Sept. 22, answered a call to Deen’s Landing Road in reference to a dispute. A complainant stated a subject had taken her vehicle without her permission and was possibly using drugs, had been drinking and possibly armed with a pistol.
Sept. 23, answered a call to Gene Road in reference to a trespasser. The complainant stated an unwanted subject was at the residence. Officers made contact with the subject and advised him to stay away from the residence.
Sept. 24, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report a child custody dispute. The legal guardian of child stated that the father of the child would not return the child at the proper time from visitation.
Sept. 24, answered a call to Graham/Zoar Road in reference to harassment. A complainant stated that a subject had been harassing and stalking him.
Sept. 24, answered a call to Gene Road of Odum in reference to a theft. The complainant stated his father’s boat and trailer had been stolen that is valued at $6,500.00.
Investigation continues.
Sept. 24, answered a call to Crosby Chapel Church Road in reference to an abandoned vehicle. The vehicle was left in the roadway and after several attempts was unsuccessful to contact owner, and the vehicle was towed.
Sept. 25, answered a call to Hatch Parkway North in reference to a domestic dispute. A complainant stated she and a subject had a child together and she wishes for the subject to stay away from her.
Sept. 25, answered a call to Highway 121 in reference to a domestic dispute. A complainant stated she and her boyfriend had an altercation. Steven Alexander Bell, 28, of Surrency, was arrested and charged with simple battery/family violence and terroristic threats and acts.
Sept. 25, answered a call to Lake Mayers Road in reference to damage to property. A complainant stated someone had pried open the door to his residence and taken his son’s clothes. The complainant gave investigators a possible suspect.
Sept. 26, answered a call to Dunham Lane in reference to a fire. Upon officers arrival found a vacant mobile home to be totally engulfed. The Baxley Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire.
Sept. 26, Answered a call to Dunns Lake Road in reference to a dog bite incident. The complainant stated while jogging a white bulldog came from behind and bit him on his thigh. The owner of the dog was contacted and asked to pin the dog in a pen for ten days. Appling Health Department was also notified.
