Sheriff Benny Deloach would like to report the following activity of the Appling County Sheriff’s Office.
Sept. 13, a complainant came to the Appling County Sheriff’s Office to report a child custody dispute. The great aunt of child stated she was to have visitation of child, but had no paperwork to confirm this. The officer advised her to get proper work from the courts.
Sept. 13, answered a call to Lynch Road in reference to damage to property. A complainant stated she and her friend got into an altercation that resulted in window to her vehicle being broken.
Sept. 14, answered a call to Buckhead Road in reference to a theft. The complainant stated unknown person (s) had stolen his Cub Cadet lawn mower valued at $2,700.00. The Complainant contacted the sheriff’s Office at a later date and stated the lawn mower had been returned to their residence with no damages.
Sept. 15, answered a call to Phillip Church Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated her T.V. was stolen and has a possible suspect, but only wants the T.V. back and does not want to press charges.
Sept. 15, answered a call to Chad Claxton Road in reference to a domestic dispute. A husband and a wife had an altercation. The wife left the residence to avoid further confrontation.
Sept. 16, answered a call to James Stanfield Road in reference to damage to property. A complainant stated unknown person damaged a gate on his property.
Sept. 17, answered a call to Hatch Parkway South in reference to a theft. A complainant stated taken from his vehicle was his wallet containing approximately $80.00. Investigation continues.
Sept. 17, a complainant came to the Appling County Sheriff’s Office to report a child custody dispute. The complainant stated she and the father of her child had an agreement that they would have visitation rights. The father of the child failed to abide by the agreement and did not show up with the child.
Sept. 17, the Appling County Sheriff’s Office received information that illegal prescriptions were being used to obtain prescription drugs. Investigation led to the arrest of April Marie Hester, 34, of Surrency and Bobbie Shane Wilcox, 35, of Baxley. Hester was charged with 10 counts of fraudulently obtaining controlled substances/hydrocodone, and two counts of fraudulently obtaining controlled substances/ alprazolam. Wilcox was charged with four counts of fraudulently obtaining controlled substances/hydrocodone, and two counts of fraudulently obtaining controlled substances/alprazolam.
Sept. 17, answered a call to City Circle Road in reference to damage to property. A complainant stated a subject had run over his mailbox with a big truck. The subject was notified and he agreed to pay for the damages done to the mailbox.
Sept. 18, answered a call to Lake Mayer’s Road in reference to damage to property. A complainant stated he believes his estranged wife threw a bottle breaking a window to his residence.
Sept. 18, answered a call to Satilla Church Road in reference to a burglary. A complainant stated unknown person(s) had gone inside the residence and opened cabinets. Also found missing was a computer. Investigation continues.
Sept. 18, answered a call to County Farm Road in reference to a burglary. The complainant stated an unknown subject had pried open the door to his mother’s residence but found nothing appeared to be missing.
Sept. 19, answered a call to Hatch Parkway in reference to a theft. The complainant stated two subjects had rented a room from him and when they left they took items valued at approximately $126.00 that did not belong to them.
Sept. 18, answered a call to Old Ben Carter Road in reference to a burglary. A complainant stated she found her door open to her residence and suspected someone had been in her residence. A search was done of the surrounding area but no one was found.
Sept. 19, the Appling County Sheriff’s Deputies and K-9 unit assisted the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office in the search of a subject that had fled from them coming to Appling County. James Lingerfelt was apprehended in a tree located off of Oliff Thornton Road. The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department took custody of Lingerfelt.
Sept. 20, answered a call to Merritta Street in reference to harassing phone calls. A complainant stated the father of her child has been harassing her since she filed for child support.
Sheriff Deloach asks that if anyone notices any suspicious activity please report it to the Appling County Sheriff’s Office at 367-8120.
