Those of you who knew Mrs. Josie can attest to the fact that she was a very hardworking and dedicated woman. Not only was she dedicated to her family, friends and loved ones but also to the medical profession.
As a young woman and single mother of two boys she attended school to achieve her dream of becoming a nurse. She worked diligently on her schoolwork in order to provide a better life for her sons.
She began in her career at Dr. Virusky’s office where some of you may have been under her care. Maybe you were her patient when she worked with Dr. Roger and Dr. Lete Poblete. She may have drawn and processed your blood at Appling Healthcare or she may have collaborated with your insurance company to be sure your medical expenses were covered in her role as utilization review nurse.
She was a loved family member and friend to all that knew her, but her role as a nurse never stopped. She was on the clock 24 hours a day seven days a week. She made middle of the night house calls to check temperatures and administer medications to her children, grandchildren and friends.
Whether you were a patient, family member, or a friend her care never stopped and never ran out. This magnificent woman spent her life unselfishly putting the needs of others before her own. Even in her final days she care more about the wellbeing of everyone else over her own.
Mrs. Josie was certainly one of a kind. Her love and compassion has touched the lives of so many. The world would be a much better place today if more people cared for others the way she did.
The Family has set aside funds for The Josie C. Moody Scholarship Fund in memory of this remarkable woman and her devotion to nursing. Each year individuals entering the nursing field will be awarded with a scholarship to honor the legacy of one of Appling County’s best nurses. Anyone wishing to donate to the fund can do so at FNB South Baxley or visit josiecmoody.com. Anyone wishing to apply for the fund must send a request to The Josie C. Moody Scholarship Fund, P. O. Mrs. Josie will be missed by all.
Sincerely,
The Family of Mrs. Josie C. Moody
