Ledlie Cecil Edwards, Jr., died March 21, 2011. Brother Ledlie was born on Sept. 27, 1953 to the late Ledlie Cecil Sr. and Rosa Lee Edwards of Surrency. He was the second oldest of seven children, three sisters and three brothers.
Survivors include his daughter, Bridgett Shunta Johnson; grandchildren, Davante’ Zarett Johnson, Spence Negail Pearce, Jr., Shetaka Nicole Sanders, Brakyia Brekia Sanders, Brekia Brakyia Sanders, of Blackshear, along with family members, Pearl Johnson, Isom Johnson, Laverne Vann (Johnny), Marilyn Johnson and Paulette Vann (Eddie), all of Baxley; six sisters and brothers, Princetta Edwards of Atlanta, Cinda Reatha (Russell) Taylor of Lyons, Rosa M. Edwards of Jesup, Kenneth B. Edwards of Surrency, Jimmy L. Edwards of Atlanta and Dexter L. (Jacquetta) Edwards of Baxley; thirteen aunts and uncles: Prudence Roberts, Hovis (Jaunita) James, Baxley, Jean (Stanfield) Wilcox, Baxley, Don (Veronica) James of Atlanta, Ernestine (Hubert) West of Montezuma, Raiford (Vicki) James of Warner Robbins, Shellie (Estelle) Cash of Surrency, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 25 at Thankful New Jersey Missionary Baptist Church with Minister Starlon Byrd presiding. The eulogy was given by the Rev. Dr. Benjamin Virgil.
Interment followed in Rachel Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Appling County.
Active pallbearers were Jimmy L. Edwards, Jr., Russell W. Taylor, Jr., Anthony L. Mincey, Elliot Reddish, Curtis Harris, Dwight Cash, James Cash and Henry Alderman, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers were co-workers of Lewis Battery and Electric, Ida Mae Williams and Roanell Green.
Musical selections were rendered by Cinda Taylor, New Creation and the choir.
Arrangements were under the direction of Brown Funeral Home.
