Student arrested for carrying a concealed weapon at high school

On March 16 at approximately 9:28 a.m., officers met with the School Resource Officer at the Appling County High School in reference to a student carrying a concealed weapon on school grounds. On arrival the S.R.O. had a subject detained for having a utility knife in his pocket. Arrested in connection with this incident was Danny LaShun Dasher, age 19, of Baxley, on charges of one count each of carrying a concealed weapon and terrorist threats and acts.

Mar. 17 at approx. 6:42 p.m., met with a complainant at a 1st Street address in reference to a burglary. The complainant stated that the house was currently vacant, and she had stopped by to check on it when she noticed persons unknown had been inside the home. Reported missing was a Dish Network satellite box.

Mar. 20 at approx. 3:17 p.m., stopped a gold 2000 Chevy Impala for a seatbelt violation. While the officer was in the process of running the driver’s information through the GCIC computer network, Deputy Sellers pulled up to back up the officer. When the driver saw this he punched it and sped off, resulting in a short chase, that ended when the vehicle coming to a stop at the intersection of Lawanna Drive and the driver fleeing on foot, only to be taken into custody after a short foot chase. After the driver was secured, a search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of 15 pieces of crack rocks. Arrested in connection with this incident was Steven Witherspoon, 22, of Baxley, on charges of one count each of seatbelt violation, failure to stop at multiple stop signs, driving while drivers license suspended, obstruction of a police officer, giving false information to a police officer, fleeing or attempting to elude police officers and V.G.C.S.A. possession of crack cocaine.

Mar. 21 at approx. 1:14 p.m., answered a call to Wal-Mart in reference to a theft. On arrival officers met with the LPC officer whom had a subject detained for taking some items without paying for them. Arrested in connection with this theft was James JaDarius L. Solomon, 18, of Baxley, on one count of theft by shoplifting.

Mar. 22 in an ongoing investigation by several agencies, another arrest was made in connection with the thefts in the Oak Ridge community. Chris Wells was taken into custody in Lowndes County on an earlier warrant that was secured for his arrest. Wells is currently in custody in the Ware County jail, where he is awaiting further judicial proceedings and extradition back to Appling County.

Mar. 22 at approx. 8:00 a.m., met with the resident at a Tollison Street address in reference to a burglary. The resident told officers that while he was at work, person(s) unknown busted down the front door to his house. Nothing was reported missing at report time.

Mar. 22 at approx. 8:33 p.m., met with the resident at a Fair Street address in reference to a theft. The resident told officers that person(s) unknown had removed his Brute self-propelled lawnmower from out of his garage. The mower is described as black in color; it has a 22-inch cut, with a Briggs & Stratton engine with yellow lettering on it.

Mar. 23 at approx. 7:20 p.m., answered a call to Danny’s Games and Billiards in reference to a counterfeit bill. On arrival the complainant told officers that he had taken in a $50.00 dollar bill from one of his customers, and discovered that it was a fake. The customer told the officers that she had received the bill from a local business here in town. The secret service has been notified of this incident.

Mar. 24 at approx. 12:07, met with a complainant at Fred’s in reference to a theft. The complainant told officers that she was shopping and had left her pocketbook in the buggy, when a subject got between her and the buggy. When she went to check out she discovered her billfold was missing from her pocketbook.

Mar. 24 at approx. 4:40 p.m., answered a call to Pawn Express in reference to a theft. The complainant told officers that he was missing a Chaos CX350 400 watt amp.

Mar. 24 at approx. 8:46 p.m., answered a call to Wal-Mart in reference to a theft. On arrival officers met with the LPC officer whom had two subjects detained for taking some items without paying for them. Arrested in connection with this theft was Courtney Diane Seidner, 25, and Tawanda Rowe, 35, both of Lumber City, on charges of one count each theft by shoplifting.

Mar. 25 at approx. 10:09 p.m., several arrests were made in connection with a burglary that occurred at Joe’s TV Service. The arrest came about from a culmination of an on going investigation into a group breaking in and stealing televisions. The officers from the Hazlehurst Police Department, the Jeff-Davis Sheriff’s Office and the Appling County sheriff’s Office assisted officers of the Baxley Police Department in these arrests. The subjects had pried the front open to Joe’s TV and removed a 42-inch Sanyo television, a 30-inch Phillips television and a 42-inch Panasonic television. The subjects then attempted to leave only to be taken into custody. Arrested in connection with this incident was Terrence Jermaine Harrison II, 19, Anthony Berry, 19, and a 15 year old juvenile, all of Hazlehurst, and all on charges of one count each of burglary.

Mar. 27 at approx. 6:08 p.m., met with a complainant at Krazy Kars in reference to a theft. On arrival the complainant told officers that she had left her 2010 utility trailer at the business and when she returned to pick it up it was missing. The trailer is described as having two axles, 12 foot wide, with room in the front for three motorcycles. The trailer was bearing a current GA plate TL3Z484.
