Baxley Police make arrests
The following are highlights of incidents that have been handled by officers of the Baxley Police Department.
On August 10, at approximately 11:47 a.m., answered a call to Wal-Mart in reference to an assault. On arrival the officers met with an agent from the elderly protection services in reference to an assault. The agent told officers she was in the parking lot and witnessed the incident. Investigation revealed that a son had got mad at his father and assaulted him. Officers detained the son and checked on the welfare of the father, during which the son became combative with the officers and had to be physically restrained. Charged in this incident was Rodney Alan Moore, 59, of Baxley, on charges of one count each of simple battery under the family violence act, protection of disabled adults and elder persons, and two counts obstruction of a police officer.
Aug. 10, at approx. 3:15 p.m., met with a resident at an Edgerton Street address in reference to a theft. On arrival the resident told officers that person(s) unknown had taken her son’s bicycle sometime during the night. The bike is described as being hand painted gold and black with back pegs.
Aug. 10, at approx. 10:33 p.m., responded to a Faison Street address in reference to a non-responsive person. On arrival officers met with the EMS who was already on the scene and had already checked on the welfare of the resident, and found her to be deceased. The body of Barbara Fowler, 58, of Baxley, was released to the coroner’s office.
Aug. 11, at approx. 10:12 a.m., met with a resident of a Patterson Road address in reference to a burglary. On arrival the resident told officers that he went to check on this resident and discovered that person(s) unknown had broken into it and rummaged through the bedrooms, and removed a Frigidaire window air conditioner, a red Hoover vacuum cleaner and a set of VFT gold clubs with two drivers.
Aug. 11, at approx. 11:35 p.m., answered a call to Wal-Mart in reference to a theft. On arrival the officers met with the LPC officer whom had a subject detained for taking some items without paying for them. Arrested in connection with this theft was Ronald Marion Rowland, 40, of Baxley, on one count theft by shoplifting.
Aug. 12, at approx. 9:34 a.m., met with a resident at a N. Main Street location in reference to an assault. On arrival officers met with the resident who told them that her ex-boyfriend had come by her home, in attempts to get some stuff he had left there, and they had got into an argument, that turned physical with him slapping her, knocking her down and then dragging her into the bedroom, where he punched her several times. The resident told officers that she finally got away from him and escaped to a nearby neighbor’s home where she called 911. A lookout was posted to other units for the ex-boyfriend, but to no avail. After an investigation into the incident arrest warrants were issued for the arrest of James Sabastian Davis, 35, of Baxley, on charges of one count each of kidnapping, and battery under the family violence act in connection with this incident. Anyone knowing the whereabouts of Davis is urge to contact the nearest law enforcement agency.
Aug. 14, at approx. 12:36, responded to Joe’s Quick Stop in reference to an alarm going off. On arrival officers observed the glass front door busted out. Officers secured the building and checked the area and found no one. The key holder was notified and arrived in a short time and took control of the business. On the 15th while officers were going over the surveillance footage, and identified some subjects they needed to follow up with in connection with the burglary. Upon further investigation several subjects were arrested in connection with this incident. Arrested were: Jeremiah Devonte Jones, 18, Deon Devonte Sailem, 18, and one 15-year-old, and two 16-year-old juveniles, all of a Baxley address, and all on charges of one count burglary.
Aug. 15, at approx. 3:00 p.m., answered a call to Wal-Mart in reference to a theft. On arrival officers met with the LPC whom had two subjects detained for taking some items without paying for them. Arrested in connection with this incident were Amy L. Riddle, 29, and Martha Morris, 46, both of Reidsville, on charges of one count each of theft by shoplifting.
Aug. 18, at approx. 11:45 p.m., answered a call to Wal-Mart in reference to a theft. On arrival officers met with the LPC whom had a subject detained for taking some items without paying for them. Arrested in connection with this incident was Carol Armeta Mcclenithan, 23, of Baxley, on charges of one count theft by shoplifting.
Aug. 19, at approx. 12:15, answered a call to Appling Healthcare System in reference to a theft. On arrival a complainant told officers that person(s) unknown had went into the room where she kept her personal belongings and removed several items from her bag including her wallet. The wallet was described as a gold Michael Kors wallet, with checkbook, drivers license, and other papers and cards. A short time later a subject was spotted trying to use one of the victim’s credit cards, where he was detained and questioned. Arrested in connection with this theft was Dwayne Washington, 46, of Baxley, on charges of one count each burglary, giving false statements and writings, and financial transaction card theft.
Aug. 20, at approx. 1:18 p.m., met with a city worker on N.E. Park Avenue in reference to a theft. On arrival the worker told officers that person(s) unknown had removed three flowers that were planted on the corner of N.E. Park Avenue and Fair Street.
Aug. 20, at approx. 3:50 p.m., met with a resident at Donnie Lewis Lane address in reference to a theft. On arrival the resident told officers that person(s) unknown had removed his pistol that was in his vehicle. The pistol is described as being all black, and is a Tanfoglio 40-caliber semi-automatic.
Aug. 24, at approx. 6:27 a.m., met with a resident at a Pine Street address in reference to an armed robbery. On arrival the resident told officers that while he was loading up his car, a black male subject walked up and pointed a gun at him and attempted to rob him. The resident said he was stunned at first and then took off to the house, where his wife had saw the incident and called 911. The black male was accompanied by another black male and they tried to get into the house, not being able to get in they finally took off and fled on foot. A description of the subjects was given out to other units and the neighborhood was searched, but no one matching the description was found.
Aug. 25, at approx. 9:30 a.m., met with a resident at a Beach Road address in reference to a burglary. On arrival the resident told officers that while she was gone person(s) unknown had entered her home and rummaged through the rooms. Nothing was missing at time of report.
Aug. 26, at approx. 12:25 p.m., met with a resident at a Blackshear Highway address in reference to a burglary. On arrival the resident told officers that while she was gone person(s) unknown had entered her home and removed a T.V. set from her bedroom along with an undetermined amount of U.S. currency.
Aug. 26, at approx. 3:30 p.m., met with a resident at a Blueberry Street address in reference to a burglary. On arrival the resident told officers that person(s) unknown had entered her home and removed an undetermined amount of U.S. currency that was lying on the kitchen counter.
Aug. 27, at approx. 5:38 p.m., met with a resident at an Industrial Drive address in reference to a buglary. On arrival the resident told officers that while he was gone person(s) unknown had entered his home and removed one white gold eagle on a white chain, one bow necklace with black stones, one pair of studded loop earrings with black stones, one black onyx ring; one 2007 ACHS class ring with initials (RSL) inside the band; one gold heart necklace and a small jewelry box.
Aug. 28, at approx. 7:00 a.m., met with a resident at a Beach Road address in reference to a burglary. On arrival the resident told officers that while he was gone person(s) unknown had entered his home and removed a 7mm rifle with a Luipold scope, and a sling on it; two gold wedding bands, and a class ring with initials (E.D.D.) inside the band, an undetermined amount of U.S. currency, and two gold nuggets.
Aug. 30, at approx. 8:59 p.m., met with a clerk at Joe’s Quick Stop in reference to a theft. On arrival the clerk told officers a subject she knows came in and got some items and left without paying for them. After a brief search the subject who was identified as Eartheaner Johnson Solomon, Jr., 25, of Baxley, was taken into custody and charged with one count of theft by shoplifting.
