The Appling County Pirates (0-0-1) hosted the Wayne County Yellow Jackets (0-1-1) on Friday, August 31 with the game finishing in a 14-14 tie. Due to not being a region contest there was no overtime.

Pirates and Jackets play to stalemate
The Pirates will play host to Liberty County (1-0) from region 3A-AAAA this Friday, September 6 with the game scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.
Liberty County is coming off a 13-7 win over Bradwell Institute (0-1) in the season opener for both teams on Friday. The last time the Pirates played Liberty County was in 2003 and resulted in a loss, 21-30.
Scoring recap
The first score of the contest came with 8:22 remaining in the first quarter on a 17-yard touchdown run by the Yellow Jacket running back and with the extra point the score would be 0-7.
The Pirates answered with their first score at the end of the first quarter on a 15-yard touchdown run by Pirate Quarterback Vernon Dasher, Israel Jaramillo added the extra point to tie the score at 7-7.
The Pirates would take the lead with 3:48 left in the second quarter on a five-yard touchdown run by Dasher, Jaramillo would add the extra point to make the score 14-7.
The final score of the first half and the game came with 37 seconds left in the second quarter on a one-yard touchdown pass from the Jackets and with the extra point the final score would be 14-14.
