Hand Reunion to be held Sept. 8
The annual Hand family reunion will be Saturday, September 8, at Philadelphia Baptist Church in Jeff Davis County. A short business meeting will be held about 11:00 a.m. prior to the covered dish meal at noon. Please bring your favorite covered dishes. All Hand family from Appling County are invited to attend. The artist who is painting the wall mural for the new historical museum society in Hazlehurst plans to be in attendance to share her ideas of how the Hand family will be represented in the painting. She wants a few Hand descendant faces to be in her painting. You are encouraged to bring or wear old-fashioned clothes and your face will possibly be used in the painting. You might want to purchase a ticket to win a quilt that will be on display at the reunion and will be given away in October. All proceeds will go to defray the costs of the painting at the historical society museum.
