The Appling County Health Department will hold a special flu clinic Tuesday, September 4, from 8:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. The public is encouraged to come in during these hours to get a flu shot. Flu shots will cost $25.00.
Any person six months old or older should get vaccinated. Because it can take two weeks to develop full immunity after receiving the flu vaccine, Public Health officials urge residents to get vaccinated now.
Children six months to nine years old receiving the flu vaccine who did not receive flu vaccine last year will need a follow-up booster one month after receiving the first flu vaccine.
“Every year, flu vaccine is produced that will protect against the most common influenza viruses circulating,” said Roger Naylor, Southeast Health District Public Information Officer. “We are urging people of all ages to stop by the health department and get vaccinated.”
