Early in the first period Eagle quarterback Cole Livingston connected with receiver Zach Carter for a 35-yard passing touchdown. Big fullback Dallas Johnson added the two-point conversion and the Eagles had an early 8-0 lead at the 10:51 mark in the first period.
After a punt by the Warriors, the Eagles were able to find the end zone again quickly. On a quarterback keeper, Livingston punched the ball in the end zone from three yards out. Livingston then connected with receiver Cameron Carter for the two-point conversion. It was 16-0 with just over eight minutes remaining in the first period.
On Appling Christian’s next offensive possession, Livingston connected with receiver Daniel Beasley for a 31-yard passing touchdown. Running back Andrew Phillips busted through the line to score the two-point conversion making the score 24-0 with 5:43 remaining in the first period.
Following a turn over on downs by the Warriors, the home team had excellent field position again starting from the Warriors 25-yard line. The Eagle offense capped this drive with a seven-yard running touchdown by fullback Johnson. Running back Cameron Carter added the two-point conversion. At the end of the first period the score was 32-0.
At the 7:59 mark in the second period Appling Christian again scored as Carter scampered five yards to cap a 46-yard drive by the Eagles. The two-point conversion was no good and the score was 38-0.
Before the end of the half Livingston (playing defensive back) intercepted a ball thrown by the Warriors quarterback at the Westside 27-yard line. It didn’t take long for Carter to find the end zone again, this time scoring on a 17-yard run. Livingston punched in the two-point conversion making the score 46-0 at the halftime break.
Following halftime the Eagles only scored one more touchdown. At the 4:27 mark, running back John McLemore busted through the line and darted 24 yards for a touchdown. The two-point conversion was no good and the final score of the evening was 52-0.
All of the team members including Andrew Phillips, Cole Livingston, Cameron Carter, Daniel Beasley, Bryant Phillips, Coty Weaver, Dallas Johnson, John McLemore, Hunter Allen, Timothy Sexton, Hunter Barber, Zach Carter and Reid Edwards played an dominating game against the Warriors.
The Eagles are off this week and will resume their season on Friday, September 7 at Eagle Field against Faith Christian, from Ludowici. Appling Christian is now 3-0 on the season.
