The school has started the school year with increases in almost every area of the school. The largest increase has been in the middle and high school areas. Another delightful surprise announced by school officials was in the Pre-K department of the academy. As of this article, the four-year old program has doubled in size over the past year and the three-year old program has shown an increase in students.
People associated with the school attribute the increased enrollment to parent satisfaction with the school program and their “word of mouth” advertising for the school. ACA continues to offer a Christ-centered education that is grounded in a solid academic curriculum for students from K3 through grade 12. The academy is a college preparatory school and is fully accredited by the Georgia Association of Christian Schools and the Georgia Private School Accreditation Council.
Students attending ACA last year scored nearly 30 percent above the national average on the nationally administered Stanford Achievement Test. All of the 2012 graduates are pursuing their education in post secondary schools this fall. Eighty percent of the graduating class received the HOPE Scholarship in addition to many other academic awards to help finance their educational plans.
ACA will be offering computer classes to kindergarten and elementary students this fall in addition to the regular computer science classes already offered at the academy. The band program has added a new beginner band program for middle school students. In addition to these programs, elementary students at ACA can participate in 4-H, agriculture classes, C.H.A.M.P.S., music appreciation and library time. Plans are underway to start a Fellowship of Christian Athletes Chapter at the school.
Student-athletes attending Appling Christian can look forward to another year of championship varsity and junior varsity competition in the Georgia Christian Athletic Association. The school maintains programs in football, volleyball, basketball, baseball, and softball. In the 2011-2012 athletic campaign, the teams won four state championships and one region championship.
The school’s theme this year, “Aiming at the Right Target”, seems to be an appropriate one since the school’s primary aim is to guide students in the right direction as they pursue God’s target for their lives.
