Sheriff Benny DeLoach would like to report the following activity of the Appling County Sheriff’s Office.
Aug. 3, answered a call on Pebble Lane in reference to financial fraud. A complainant stated that someone had used his social security number to file a tax return.
Aug. 5, answered a call on Griffin Street in reference to battery. Upon the officers arrival, they found Dillon Miller, 19, of Baxley, had beaten up his father. Miller was arrested and charged with simple battery.
Aug. 5, answered a call on Crosby Chapel Church Road in reference to cruelty to animals. The complainant stated that his neighbors moved out and left a shot dog at the residence.
Aug. 6, answered a call on Davis Landing Road in reference to a theft. The complainant stated taken from the woods was his trail cam deer camera.
Aug. 7, answered a call on Isaiah Lane in reference to a theft. Taken was a debit card that was used at a local convenience store. Investigation resulted in the arrest of Leandra Alderman, 29, of Baxley. Alderman was charged with financial transaction card theft.
Aug. 7, answered a call on Prentiss Road in reference to damage to property. The back glass on a vehicle was busted out.
Aug. 8, answered a call in reference to damage to vehicle. A complainant stated that someone had keyed the vehicle.
Aug. 8, answered a call to Lake Mayers Road in reference to damage to property. A complainant stated a subject had come to his residence and damaged the inside of the residence. Estimated damage was $4,500.00.
Aug. 9, an anonymous tip received referenced possible child abuse and drug use in a home located on Orange Street. A DFACS worker, along with Altamaha Drug Task Force Agent, and Appling County Sheriff’s Office went to the residence, which resulted in the arrest of Jarod Kendrell Mumford, 26, of Baxley. Mumford was arrested and charged with illegal possession of a controlled substance (Marijuana). Further investigation continues by DFACS about the well being of children residing at the residence.
Aug. 9, answered a call on John Lewis Lane in reference to a domestic dispute. A complainant stated that she has been disputing with her neighbor. The complainant stated that the neighbors have thrown rocks at her kids, attempting to destroy no trespassing signs, cussing and trying to fight.
Aug. 10, answered a call on Ten Mile Highway in reference to a forgery. A complainant stated that three checks were taken and cashed at various places around town. Warrants have been secured for the arrest of Christina Nencioni, 25, of Baxley, for three counts of forgery in the fourth degree.
Aug. 10, answered a call on King Drive in reference to a burglary. The complainant stated that the door was kicked in at the residence but nothing appeared to be missing or damaged inside the residence.
Aug. 11, met with the complainant at the sheriff’s office in reference to damage to property. The complainant stated that she left her vehicle parked at a residence and when she returned she found that someone had damaged her vehicle.
