Sheriff Benny Deloach would like to report the following activity of the Appling County Sheriff’s Office.
July 19, a complainant came to the Appling County Sheriff’s Office to report harassing text messages. The complainant stated a person making text stated they were going to beat up her sister.
Sheriff Deloach gives weekly update of incidents
July 20, answered a call to Michael Street in reference a theft. A complainant stated someone had stolen a ladies model Blue Huffy brand bicycle from his residence. Investigation continues.
July 20, answered a call to Manning Williams Road in reference to trespassing. A complainant stated two subjects were on her property without her permission.
July 20, answered a call to Hill Top Road in reference to a dispute. The dispute was between a renter and a landlord concerning littering. The landlord talked with the renter and they worked out the problem of littering.
July 20, answered a call to Chad Claxton Road in reference to harassment. The complainant stated he wishes for his mother and sister to stop harassing him.
July 20, a complainant came to the Appling County Sheriff’s Office to report child abuse. The complainant stated mother of an eight –year-old child had left marks on her. Photos were taken of the juvenile and the case was turned over to DFAC’s.
July 20, answered a call to Ernest Kesler Road in reference to harassing text messages. The complainant stated a female subject continues to send her threatening text messages.
July 21, a routine traffic stop on Highway 1 North resulted in the arrest of Leonandize Blake, 32, of Baxley. Blake was charged with simple possession of marijuana, driving while license suspended, excessive volume for radio, and giving false name.
July 21, answered a call Bill Branch Road in reference to harassing text messages. A complainant stated a female subject continues to send her threatening messages.
July 21, answered a call to McDaniel Road in reference to shots fired. A complainant stated shots were fired and it appeared as though that a car shot at a truck. Upon officer arrival both vehicles were gone. A shell cason was found and it appeared as though a snake had crossed the road in the same area. It wasn’t determined whether they were shooting at each other or a snake.
July 21, answered a call to Kennedy Road in reference to an affray. Two subjects had a verbal disagreement, which led to an altercation. One of the subjects left the residence before the officer arrived.
July 21, answered a call to Pickett Road in reference to an unruly juvenile. A mother of the juvenile stated he had been gone for three days and when he returned he was acting very strange. The juvenile tested positive for drugs. The Juvenile Justice Officer was notified.
July 22, answered a call to Morris Landing in reference to a juvenile problem. A complainant stated her brother did not want to leave when told to do so and started to fight her and make threats. The Juvenile Justice Officer was notified.
July 23, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report a missing person. The complainant stated her twenty-three-year-old son had not been seen since December 2011. Investigation continues.
July 23, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report a theft. The complainant stated that in March of this year his 1976 Ford Econoline Van had been taken from his property without his permission.
July 23, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report a dispute. A complainant stated her husband had been making threats toward her and himself. The complainant was advised to contact Pineland for assistance.
July 23, answered a call to Nails Ferry Road in reference to damage to property and threats. The subject came to the complainant’s house demanding money for work that was done on the residence. The complainant stated the work was not completed. The subject kicked in the back door of residence and left the residence before the officer arrived.
July 23, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report a theft. The complainant stated a family member had stolen her laptop computer.
July 25, answered a call on James Kent Road in reference to a domestic dispute. An altercation occurred between a husband and a wife. Both subjects had restraining orders against each other however the wife let the husband come back to the house. The victim was advised to see the magistrate judge.
July 25, answered a call to Gardner Road in reference to a domestic dispute. A wife and a husband had a verbal dispute, which led to an altercation. The husband left the residence before the officer arrived.
July 25, answered a call to Sandy Road in reference to a dog bite. A fourteen-year old was bitten by their neighbor’s Pitt Bull dog. The victim was taken to Appling ER for treatment and released the same day. The owner of the dog was advised to keep the dog locked up for several days.
July 26, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report a dispute. The complainant stated subjects changed the lock on his building and would not allow him to get his items.
July 26, a routine traffic check at the Water Park revealed a vehicle parked with a male subject in the back seat. Brandon Allen Heath, 27, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with simple possession of marijuana.
July 28, answered a call to Baker Lane in reference to a domestic dispute. A girlfriend and a boyfriend had a confrontation, which led to the arrest of Robert L. Crapps, 43, of Baxley. Crapps was charged with simple battery and obstruction of an officer.
July 28, answered a call to Nails Ferry Road in reference to a mobile home fire. The Baxley Fire Department responded and found no one to be inside the mobile home. Investigation continues.
