Sheriff Benny Deloach would like to report the following activity of the Appling County Sheriff’s Office.
June 27, answered a call to Patterson Road in reference to trespassing. The complainant stated he wants subject to stay off of his property.
June 30, answered a call to Thompson Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated he wanted his step-son to leave his residence he believed he had taken his money. The parole office was contacted and removed the subject from the residence.
June 30, answered a call to Mae Lane in reference to a possible over dose. The subject was found to have taken an over dose of medication. The Appling EMS transported the subject to Appling ER for evaluation.
July 1, a routine traffic stop on Highway 144 resulted in the apprehension of a fourteen-year-old female juvenile. The juvenile was charged with failure to maintain lane, headlight requirements, speeding, no license and fleeing, attempting to elude police officer. The Juvenile Justice Officer was notified and was later transported to a youth detention center.
July 1, answered a call to Dukes Street in reference to a property dispute. A
complainant and estranged husband are in disagreement over the ownership of a vehicle. The complainant was advised to contact her attorney.
July 1, answered a call to Clyde Road in reference to a domestic dispute. The husband was returning the children from his visitation when he and his ex-wife began a verbal argument, which led to a confrontation that resulted in the arrest of Ashley Marie Anderson, 25, of Baxley. Anderson was charged with battery.
July 2, answered a call to Ben Carter Road in reference to threats. A complainant stated an unknown male subject called his cell phone and made threats on his life. Investigation continues.
July 2, answered a call to Faulk Road in reference to a domestic dispute. The complainant stated a subject was not to call his residence or have any contact and continues to do so. The officer could not locate the subject at the time of the report.
July 3, met with the complainant at the Appling County Sheriff’s Office in reference to a child custody incident. A complainant stated that she and her ex-husband were sharing custody of their seven-month-old child.
July 2, answered a call on Tupelo Circle in reference to a theft. Taken was an Android touch screen phone.
July 3, answered a call on Johns Lane in reference to a domestic. The altercation was between a mother and a father about their son.
July 3, a routine traffic stop on Highway U.S. 1 South/Miles Chapel Road resulted in the arrest of Teresa Steedley, 48, of Hazlehurst. Steedley was arrested and charged with driving on suspended license, speeding and child restraint. Steedley is currently out on bond.
July 4, answered a call at Morris Landing in reference to someone shooting out the windshield of a vehicle. Upon arrival, officers spoke to several people who stated that two individuals got into an argument and one of them shot a gun with lots of people nearby. The individuals that were arguing were gone upon the arrival of the officers. Investigation continues.
July 5, answered a call on Jake Moody Road in reference to a theft. Officers stopped a white Dodge vehicle that was pulling a trailer containing scrap metal and tin. Further investigation led to the arrest of Crystal Mae Payne, 21, Lorenzo Eugene Thomas, 45, and Carl Toler, 46, all of Baxley. All subjects were arrested and charged with theft by taking.
July 5, answered a call on Wayne Jones Road in reference to death investigation. Upon arrival, officers found Joseph Warren Moody, 61, was deceased. The coroner was notified and stated he died of natural causes.
July 5, answered a call on Nails Ferry Road in reference to a theft. Taken was a refrigerator. Investigation continues.
July 6, met with the complainant at the sheriff’s office in reference to a previous occurred incident that happened at Morris Landing. The complainant stated that she got into an argument with the offender. She stated that he shoved her and verbally abused her. She called someone to come and pick her up and the offender threw her phone in the river. The complainant was advised to see the magistrate to secure warrants on the offender.
July 6, answered a call on Fletcher Road in reference to a death investigation. Upon arrival, officers found that Ellis Fields, age 105, had passed away from natural causes.
July 6, answered a call on Daisy Lane in reference to a domestic dispute. The complainant stated that the offender had thrown some of her things into the yard because of problems with the living arrangements.
July 6, answered a call on Prentiss Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated that the offender walked into her sister-in-law’s house and was removing items and went inside her car and took a textbook.
