Reconsideration for an application for a new beer and wine consumption on the premises only, license for Golden Touch One Stop, came before the Baxley City Council for review at the regular council meeting June 12. The application was filed by Japheth Errol Haughton, owner of Golden Touch One Stop, located at 828 N. Boulevard.
City Council reconsiders beer and wine license
The application met all the requirements. It was approved by a four to two vote. Pro Tem Esco Hall, Jr. made a motion to approve the license and Betty Livingston made a second. Council members Tim Varnadore and Mickey Bass voted against. Council members Hall, Livingston, Pat Williams and Kenneth Waithe voted in favor.
Other Business
The council approved a new application for a license to sell package beer and wine by a four to two vote for Jay Madi Mart, owner Ruchir N. Patel, located at 272 N. Main Street. The application met all the requirements. Hall, Livingston, Williams and Waithe voted in favor. Varnadore and Bass voted against.
The council voted unanimously to approve the first reading of an ordinance regarding enforcement of Georgia State Minimum Standard Codes for Construction and for other purposes.
The 2013 Budget Calendar was approved.
The regular council meeting of June 26 was changed due to conflict with the GMA convention. The regular meeting will be held June 28 at 8:30 a.m.
