William Frank Brewer, 73, of Alma died suddenly at his residence Thursday, January 13, 2011. He was a native of Telfair County but had lived in Baxley from 1970–1990 then moved to Bacon County. Frank was son of the late Randolph Jack Brewer and Frankie Hulett Brewer, his wife Zennith Johnson Brewer, and a sister; Virgina Rozier preceded him in death. He was a retired construction contractor all over the Southeast and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his fiancé, Nancy Yokum Warnock of Alma; three daughters, Teresa Hickox (Jim) of Pompano Beach, FL, Patrice Carter (John) of Baxley and Erin Brewer Wood of Camilla; three step daughters and their children, three brothers, James Brewer (Merle) and Tex Brewer (Margaret) of Lumber City and Tom Brewer (Genethe) of Hazlehurst; one sister, Betty Varnadoe Brown (J.D) of Helena; man’s best friend: Emma, also five grandchildren, Dustin and Chris Hickox, Hunter and Sunshine Carter and Austin Crosby.
Funeral services were held Sunday, January 16 at 3:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard Johnson and the Rev. Tommy Davis officiating. Interment followed in Pine Level Church Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home Saturday evening between 6:00 and 9:00 p.m.
Active pallbearers were George Johnson, Wiley Roach, Jr. Overstreet, Leroy Graham, Randy Durden, Wendell Brewer, Lee Yokum and Hunter Carter.
Honorary pallbearers were the staff of Dr. Harrison Carter, Huddle House Staff, Jerry Carter, Jeffery and Liz Carver, Dr. Frances Herbold, Jane Johnson, Robert and Harriet Eaton, Huey and Charlene Beasley, Buck Smith, Dan and Sherrill Miller, Carol Thornton, Jerry and Sammy Boatright, Curtis Jacobs, Eddie Oneal, Freddy Simmons, Cecil Hall, James Spires, Ray Boatright and Dr. Jeff and Jan Cauley.
Crosby Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
