On May 9 thru 11, the Appling Christian Academy Softball team competed in the NACA (National Association of Christian Athletes) softball tournament, which was held in Dayton, TN. Participating in the tournament were eight teams from Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana, Michigan, Tennessee and Texas. On day one of the tournament the Lady Eagles faced Covenant Christian Academy from Louisiana and the Knoxville Lady Ambassadors from Knoxville, TN.
The Eagles won the first game 12-2 and the second game by a score of 12-0. On day two, the Lady Eagles started the day with a game against Covenant Christian Academy from Huntsville, AL and were able to pull out a tough 4-3 victory. The final game on day two was against Crown Athletics from Woodstock, GA. The Lady Eagles won the game easily by a score of 17-2 sending the team into the Division One championship game, which would be played the following day. The championship game turned out to be a rematch with the Knoxville Lady Ambassadors. The Lady Eagles fell behind early 4-0 but kept their composure and were able to come back and take an exciting 10-8 win. Lindsey Johnson, Christin Beasley and Kate Vinson were named to the all-tournament team. Lindsey Johnson was named the tournament’s best offensive player and Kate Vinson was named the tournament’s best pitcher.
