Program established to save lives
Safe Family’s of Appling County has developed a life jacket loner program at Lake Mayers to keep children safe at the park while swimming. Shown are members of the program Jimmy Twiggs, Steve Davidson, and David Brake are shown with children that are preparing to get in the water at Lake Mayers.
Safe Family’s would also like to establish more life jacket stations throughout the community including along the Altamaha River at various landings. If you would like to make a donation, please contact Jimmy Twiggs at 367-9841, ext. 1260. If you have unused life jackets laying around your home, please consider donating the jackets to this program. You can drop the jackets off at the Appling EMS (ambulance) building to Twiggs or at the Appling County Health Department to Brake. Safe Family’s requests that the public please return the jackets following usage.
